August 7, 2008O – M – G, it’s a bee!
August 1, 2008While going out to investigate the possibility of some nice flower photos, I was ambushed by a horde of buzzing assailants! Actually, it was two little pollinator types. So I took some photos of them instead.
As you’ll recall, there was a previous Abquencity post on the same subject.

July 24, 2008Knowledge
June 19, 2008Across the lake, the Spring wind blows;
It whispers in my ear
The wind blows strong, but then it goes
and leaves the waters clear.
In my hands, I hold the past,
reminding me of you.
I hope these times shall ever last,
mixing the old with new.
Without you I would be not be here
doing what I love most.
Your help’s been always crystal clear
so who am I to boast?
Since all the things that I have done, now and forever on,
were done because of you. And even when these days are gone
to you I shall think back in my last hour
since knowledge, they say, she holds a power.
Knowledge, you’ve always been with me,
you’ve helped me learn and helped me see.

June 5, 2008Shapely Mother Nature
May 23, 2008Nature has the remarkable ability to create an amazing number of aesthetically pleasing shapes, from the spiraling nautilus to the octagonal stop sign to the patterns in the sand left by a lake. They are easy to overlook (though one would hope the stop sign would garner some attention), but when truly looked at a variety of interesting lines and curves can be found.
Here are some photos I took a while ago along the shores of Lake Erie that show some of those interesting lines from nature. Or at least, lines and shapes that I found interesting. Hopefully you will feel the same.

May 15, 2008Almost Summer Again
May 8, 2008After Jeff’s recent post with his flower photos, I became inspired to post some of my own from last summer. I took these photos at my grandpa’s house. Since it has become quite summer-like and the flowers are starting to really show up, this is a preview for the coming season. The different colors are always wonderful to see. Hopefully this year will produce additional photos!
- Some red flowers
- Lone flower
- Some pretty flowers
